Leadership Tuition Scholarships

A variety of partial tuition scholarships for Leadership Lackawanna participants are available to qualified candidates. A complete list can be found below.

The Margaret Briggs Leadership Lackawanna Fund shall be awarded annually to an individual from the social services community who has demonstrated leadership ability, is interested in community affairs and has a desire for an increased commitment to community and professional service. This fund is maintained for Leadership Lackawanna by The Scranton Area Foundation.

The Karen O'Connell Welles Leadership Lackawanna Fund shall be awarded annually to an individual based on potential for leadership and need. Special consideration will be given to individuals who are interested in promoting equality. This fund is maintained for Leadership Lackawanna by The Scranton Area Foundation.

The William P. Rinaldi Leadership Lackawanna Fund shall be awarded to an individual who works in the field of education and displays the same passion of the late William P. Rinaldi in education and all aspects of life. The fund was established by the Voluntary Action Center (VAC) and the Leadership Lackawanna Alumni Association. This fund is maintained for Leadership Lackawanna by The Scranton Area Foundation.

The William W. and Mary L. Scranton Leadership Lackawanna Fund shall be awarded annually to an individual who has displayed leadership qualities with a giving spirit to the community. This fund is maintained for Leadership Lackawanna by the Scranton Area Foundation.

The H. Leigh Woehling Leadership Lackawanna Fund was established to honor the late H. Leigh Woehling, a co-founder of Leadership Lackawanna. Each year it is awarded to an incoming participant aspiring to become an emerging leader. This fund is maintained by Leadership Lackawanna.

The Leadership Lackawanna Collegiate Fund annually provides tuition assistance to individuals in need who have been accepted into our collegiate-level program. This fund is maintained for Leadership Lackawanna by the Scranton Area Foundation.

The Government Leadership Award of the Scranton Area Foundation, Inc. is a merit-based award given to an individual whose employer is not covering the cost of the Leadership Lackawanna program, or a small business owner (fewer than 500 employees) paying his/her own way to Leadership Lackawanna, and who shall be committed to civic leadership/government. This fund is maintained by The Scranton Area Foundation
